Dungeons & Drogans: Session XXXI
Session XXXI Summary
Zook and Autumn ding to level 3 when XP is awarded.
The Drogans descend to the second level of Shadowfell Keep and navigate to a chamber with two short passages. Both end in double doors.
They take the left passage and continue to another pair of double doors with a board nailed across them. On the board is written: "Closed."
Showing the reckless disregard for signage that we've seen nearly killed the party in the past, the Drogans decide to go through, revealing a T-intersection.
They head west, into a chamber with two stone sarcophagi and a single door.
Zook swings the door open, and the two sarcophagi bang open. Two corpses emerge.
In a terrible start to the battle, Win'tyr fumbles.
The corpses hurl internal organs at the Drogans.
On round 2, Win'tyr is sucked into a gelatinous cube that snuck up on the party. It occupies the entire corridor, blocking off escape. The elf is digested down to 17 HP and tries to escape from the cube, but rolls a 1.
The cube advances and engulfs Zook, digesting him down to 19/40 HP.
On round 4, Win'tyr is digested down to 7 HP, and escapes right before he dies. He exits the cube to the north, putting the cube between himself and the party. Win'tyr now has a clear path to freedom.
Zook is digested down to 9 HP. He fails to escape.
On round 5, Win'tyr fires an arrow that strikes the cube with a thunderous clap that moves the gelatinous mass out of the way, freeing the path for the Drogans to escape.
Coltaine inspires Zook to heal up to 28/40 HP.
Zook is digested down to 18/40 and fails to escape.
By round 7, all the Dragons--other than Zook--pull back into the northern corridor.
The cube starts attacking the corpses, apparently not differentiating between living or dead tissue.
Zook is digested down to 8 HP. The gnome just manages to escape.
The Drogans retreat North.
Session XXXI - Part 1 Summary
Zook and Autumn ding to level 3 when XP is awarded for killing brave, brave Sir Keegan.
The Drogans descend to the second level of Shadowfell Keep. They find an unexplored passage heading south into darkness and follow it. It leads into a chamber with two short passages: one heads south, the other west. Both end in double doors.
They take the left door and head down the passage until they find another pair of double doors with a board nailed across them. On the board, it says: "Closed."
Showing the reckless disregard for signage that we've seen nearly killed the party in the past, the Drogans decide to go through. Rekoj yanks off the board, revealing a T-intersection. The floor is remarkably clean and dust-free.
They head west, into a chamber with two stone sarcophagi and a single door.
Zook swings the door open, and the two sarcophagi bang open. Two corpses emerge.
In a terrible start to the battle, Win'tyr fumbles.
Rekoj advances on the corpse and finds it to be emitting a horrid stench that imposes a -5 penalty to attack rolls.
Session XXXI - Part 2 Summary
Zook is the first to land a blow, burning a corpse with a Flame Seed.
The corpses reach inside their gut and hurl internal organs at the Drogans while regenerating their wounds.
On round 2, as Win'tyr stands, drawing another arrow from his quiver, he feels himself sucked into something. The Drogans see him suspended in a gelatinous cube that occupies the entire corridor, blocking off escape, measuring 10ft x 10ft x 10ft.
Win'tyr is being digested by powerful acids.
Autumn "bloodies" the corpse, and black ichor oozes out of it.
Win'tyr is digested down to 17 HP and tries to escape from the cube, but rolls a 1.
The cube advances and engulfs Zook, so that Win'tyr can have some company.
Coltaine starts attacking the cube.
Zook is digested down to 19/40 HP and fails to escape.
The corpse slaps Autumn down to 10 HP, then regenerates and is no longer bloodied.
On round 4, Win'tyr is digested down to 7 HP, and escapes right before he dies. He exits the cube to the north, putting the cube between himself and the party. The cube is corking the passage leading out of the room, trapping the Drogans, but Win'tyr now has a clear path to freedom.
Rekoj strikes the corpse, bloodying it once more.
The cube attacks Coltaine, slamming into the warlord and immobilizing him with an acidic residue.
Session XXXI - Part 3 Summary
Zook is digested down to 9 HP. He fails to escape.
The corpse regenerates and is no longer bloodied.
Round 5, the Drogans are trying to make retreat an option.
Win'tyr fires an arrow that strikes the cube with a thunderous clap that moves the gelatinous mass out of the way, freeing the path for the Drogans to escape.
Rekoj rams into the cube, sending it flying against the far wall so that it can't move back into blocking position.
Coltaine inspires Zook to heal up to 22/40 HP, saving his life.
Zook is then digested back down to 12 and fails to escape.
Pummeled with internal organs that explode on him in bursts of ichor, Rekoj is down to 26/52 HP.
Of course, because John is playing Rekoj, Rekoj has barely hit anything this entire combat.
The cube slams Coltaine down to 18/35 HP.
Autumn drags the immobilized Coltaine away from the cube as the warlord calls out inspiring words to Zook again, healing him to 28/40 HP.
Zook is digested down to 18/40 and fails to escape.
By round 7, all the Dragons--other than Zook--pull back into the northern corridor.
The cube starts attacking the corpses, apparently not differentiating between living or dead tissue.
Zook is digested down to 8 HP. Coltaine can lend no more aid--this is do or die. The gnome just manages to escape.
