Dungeons & Drogans: Session XVI
Session XVI Summary
Coltaine finds a note on Ninaran's corpse, signed by Kalarel. It states that she should put an end to the Drogan's meddling, and that he is very close to completing his work. It goes on to say that the pass phrase to the second level of the keep is: "From the ground, some magic was found."
The Drogans loot Zaxzarrd's corpse before burying him in the center of the evil, glowing, magic, necromantic circle. They then return to Winterhaven, carrying Autumn, and visit Sister Linora at the temple, who says she can raise the eladrin from the dead if the Drogans can supply her with a large diamond.
At the temple, the Drogans meet Zook, a gnome druid--and John's new character--who was sent by a priest to put an end to a death cult led by Kalarel. They bring him into their fold.
Lord Padraig enters the temple and pries a large diamond from the pommel of a sword he used in his youth as a mercenary leader. He offers the diamond to complete the resurrection, and Autumn is alive and well the next morning.
Session XVI - Part 1 Summary
Coltaine awakes to learn the bad news about Autumn and Zaxzarrd. XP is awarded, and the remaining Drogans loot the enemies.
Session XVI - Part 2 Summary
While Rekoj grabs Ninaran's longbow, Coltaine finds a note on the elf's corpse, signed by Kalarel. It reads:
I received your report on the adventurers. Next time you see the Drogans, put an end to their meddling. Mix the blood of ten people with the elixir my messenger brings, then trace the following pattern on the ground of the graveyard and pour the liquid into the lines. That should supply you with a force to thwart them. I am very close to completing my work, and cannot be interrupted. As you already know, if you do come to the second level of the keep, the pass phrase is: "From the ground, some magic was found."
The Drogans then turn to looting their own fallen: Coltaine pilfers Zaxzarrd's gold coins, while Rekoj grabs his falchion.
Session XVI - Part 3 Summary
Rekoj buries Zaxzarrd in the center of the evil, glowing, magic, necromantic circle. The Drogans then return to Winterhaven, carrying Autumn.
At the news of what happened, Lord Padraig thanks the Drogans them for their service, and tells them to visit Sister Linora at the temple.
Session XVI - Part 4 Summary
The Drogans meet Sister Linora at the temple. She thanks them for purging the graveyard of the undead, and says she can raise Autumn from the dead. Normally, this would call for a substantial donation to the temple, but she'll do it for free. Nonetheless, she requires a diamond worth at least 500 gold pieces to complete the ritual.
Sister Linora introduces the Drogans to Zook, a gnome druid--and John's new characters--who was visiting with her, inquiring about a death cult and an individual named Kalarel.
Zook says that a priest sent a mage named Jacques to find the cult, but he hasn't reported back, so the priest hired him to bring proof of the destruction of the cult.
Coltaine claims to have not heard of Jacques, and invites Zook to join the Order of the Drogans. The gnome agrees.
Session XVI - Part 5 Summary
Lord Padraig enters the temple with a sheathed sword. He says that in his youth, he was a warrior that led a team of mercenaries, and that the sword carries many fond memories.
In the pommel of the sword is a large diamond. Padraig pries the diamond from the pommel and hands it to them.
With Padraig supplying the diamond, and Sister Linora the ritual, the Drogans are able to resurrect Autumn at no cost. The priestess says that Autumn will be alive once more come morning.
Session XVI - Part 6 Summary
After spending the night at the inn, the Drogans return to the temple in the morning to find that Autumn has been raised from the dead.
Session XVI - Part 7 Summary
The Drogans wait for Autumn to recover from resurrection sickness, and the session ends as the group plans to head back to the keep.
