Session XIX Summary
The Drogans explore the grotto until they approach a cave chamber, inside which they see a large, amorphous glob of ochre jelly.
Autumn immediately assumes this innocuous jelly is an evil monster with hostile intentions and stabs it. Rekoj doesn't wait to see how the jelly reacts before attacking it as well.
Surprise surprise, the jelly defends itself after the Drogans have come into its house and poked it with sharp objects. Its attacks leave an acidic residue.
A dozen rats drop from the ceiling, cornering Coltaine and Autumn.
Rekoj cleaves the jelly in two. The two halves now independently move and attack.
By the end of round 8, Coltaine takes down the last rat, and acid burns Rekoj down to 9/45 HP.
Rekoj kills one half of the jelly, but on round 10, the other half takes Rekoj down.
On round 11, acid burns Rekoj down to -6/45 HP.
On round 12, acid burns Autumn down to 1/29 HP. Autumn, with 1 HP, acid eating away at her skin, and rat bites all over, stabs into the ooze with both katars, and it bursts into a puddle on the floor.
Acid burns Rekoj down to -11/45 HP. He fails his first death save.
On round 13, acid burns Rekoj down to -16/45 HP.
The race is on: what will kill Rekoj first? Failing his 3rd death save, or the acid?
The goliath fails his second death save.
Zook's first aid stops the acid from further damaging the warden.
On round 14, with Rekoj just seconds away from death, Autumn stabilizes Rekoj, but Stephen is sad because he was hoping the goliath would die so they could bury him under the dead rats. The session ends.
Session XIX - Part 1 Summary
The Drogans explore the grotto, crossing over and under stalagmites and stalactites, hearing rats scurrying around. They approach a small cave chamber, inside which they see a large, amorphous globular body of ochre jelly. They roll initiative.
Autumn immediately assumes this innocuous jelly is an evil monster with hostile intentions and stabs it.
Session XIX - Part 2 Summary
Rekoj doesn't wait to see how the jelly reacts before attacking it as well.
A rat suddenly drops from the ceiling and bites Zook down to 32/35 HP.
Two more rats drop next to the gnome and bite him down to 29/35 HP.
Surprise surprise, the jelly defends itself after the Drogans have come into his house and started poking him with sharp objects. It slams into Autumn, bashing her down to 24/29 HP.
Round 1 ends.
The acidic residue of the jelly burns Autumn down to 19/29 Hp. She shifts into flanking position.
Session XIX - Part 3 Summary
Autumn lands a devastating hit with her katars on the jelly, and Rekoj chops into it as well.
Rats bites Zook down to 26/35 HP, and the gnome fades away, becoming invisible.
The remaining rats converge on Coltaine, biting him down to 23/30 HP. Two more rats drop from the ceiling, and the warlord now has five rats surrounding him.
Zook transforms into his lynx form, rematerializing in a blur of claws and fangs as he kills a rat.
Session XIX - Part 4 Summary
Another rat drops from the ceiling. Coltaine brings down his halberd and chops off the rat's head.
Three more rats drop from the ceiling and bite Coltaine down to 20/30 HP. The warlord is cornered by rats.
Round 2 ends.
Acid burns Autumn down to 14/29 HP. She wants to rescue Coltaine, so she engages the rats.
Session XIX - Part 5 Summary
Rekoj is left to fight the jelly on his own.
Three rats bite Zook down to 17/35 HP.
Zook tears out a rat's throat, then shifts back into gnome form, spends an action point, and is healed by Coltaine up to 22/35 HP.
Coltaine shouts inspiring words to Autumn, letting her heal to 24/29 HP. He then smashes a rat's skull.
A rat bites Coltaine down to 17/30 HP, and another rat drops from the ceiling.
Session XIX - Part 6 Summary
Two more rats drop, and Autumn is now cornered as well. The rats bite her down to 21/29 HP.
Round 4 starts.
Autumn stabs a rat in the head, killing it.
Rekoj brings down his axe and cleaves the jelly in two pieces. The two halves now independently move and attack.
Session XIX - Part 7 Summary
Two rats bite Coltaine down to 11/30 HP.
The jelly slams into Rekoj for 7 damage.
A rat bites Zook down to 16/35 HP.
Round 4 ends.
With surgical precision, Autumn strikes a rat through the heart.
Acid burns Rekoj down to 36/45 HP.
A rat bites Autumn down to 18/29 HP.
Six rats remain, as well as the two jelly halves.
As Zook tries to cast a spell, a rat bites him down to 13/35 HP.
Coltaine calls out inspiring words to Zook to heal the druid to 24/35 HP.
Session XIX - Part 8 Summary
Coltaine calls upon the special ability of his magic armor he pilfered off Zacsarrd to heal himself up to 18/30 HP.
Autumn pierces both a rat's lungs, killing it.
A rat bites the eladrin down to 15/29 HP.
Acid burns Rekoj down to 31/45 HP, and he chops into the jelly.
A rat bites Autumn down to 12/29 HP.
Coltaine kills a rat.
A rat bites Coltaine down to 15/30 HP.
The jelly slams Rekoj down to 27/45 HP.
Session XIX - Part 9 Summary
Round 7 begins.
Autumn kills another rat.
Four rats and two jellies remain.
Acid burns Rekoj down to 22/45 HP. The goliath deals a devastating blow to one half of the jelly.
Zook transforms into lynx form and charges, but misses.
Coltaine breaks a rat's back, then commands Rekoj to shake off the acid, and the warden does so.
Rekoj is slammed by the two jelly halves down to 8/45 HP.
Autumn eviscerates a rat's liver, killing it.
Acid burns Rekoj down to 3/45 HP. He calls upon his second wind, healing up to 14/45 HP.
Session XIX - Part 10 Summary
2 rats and the jellies remain.
Zook the lynx rends and tears at a rat with savage fury, slashing open its abdomen and killing it.
Coltaine takes down the last rat of the thirteen rats that attacked them.
Round 9 starts.
Acid burns Rekoj down to 9/45 HP.
Rekoj chops into one half of the jelly, and it collapses into a pool of ooze.
Round 10 begins.
Autumn pierces the jelly with a critical hit.
Session XIX - Part 11 Summary
The jelly slams into Rekoj, dropping him to the ground with -1/45 HP.
Round 11 starts.
Autumn stabs the jelly.
Acid burns Rekoj down to -6/45 HP.
The jelly slams Autumn down to 6/29 HP.
Round 12 begins.
Acid burns the rogue down 1/29 HP. Autumn, with 1 hp, acid eating away at her skin, and rat bites all over, stabs into the ooze with both katars, and it bursts into a puddle on the floor.
Session XIX - Part 12 Summary
Autumn spends an action point and a healing surge.
Acid burns Rekoj down to -11/45 HP. He fails his first death save.
Zook delivers first aid to Rekoj, but the goliath's body refuses to cooperate despite Zook's excellent efforts.
Round 13 starts.
Acid burns Rekoj down to -16/45 HP.
The race is on: what will kill Rekoj first? Failing his 3rd death save, or the acid?
The goliath fails his second death save.
Zook's first aid allows Rekoj a saving throw that stops the acid from further damaging the warden.
Round 14 begins.
Autumn stabilizes Rekoj, but Stephen is sad because he was hoping the goliath would die so they could bury him under the dead rats. The session ends.
