Dungeons & Drogans: Session XII

Session XII Summary

The Drogans loot the corpses, and Rekoj grabs the hobgoblin's magic hide armor.

Coltaine interrogates the imprisoned goblin, who introduces himself as Splug. The sniveling, annoying, whiny goblin claims the others locked him up because he refused to "do mean things to people," and he offers to do anything for the Drogans if they let him tag along with them.

After a short rest, the Drogans leave Splug in the storage room and head through the double doors leading toward Balgron the Fat. They find a dozen goblins lying in wait.

The goblins charge with swords, spears, and javelins, while Balgron fires his crossbow. The goblin from the torture room that Coltaine knocked out stands beside Balgron.

By the end of round 2, nine goblins remain. During round 4, Balgron and the torture-room-goblin close themselves into a chamber. By the end of round 5, only two goblins can be seen, and by the end of round 9, those two are down.

Autumn picks the lock to the chamber in which Balgron retreated. The door leads into an empty bedchamber with no other exit. Upon closer inspection, Zacsarrd finds a secret door in a wall.

Session XII - Part 1 Summary

After the DM awards XP, the Drogans loot the corpses and pilfer roughly one hundred coins: half of them silver pieces, half gold pieces. Rekoj grabs the hobgoblin's magic hide armor.

Session XII - Part 2 Summary

Coltaine grabs a set of keys off the hobgoblin's corpse, then goes to interrogate the imprisoned goblin.

The goblin claims the others locked him up because he refused to "do mean things to people."

A sniveling, annoying, whiny, "pathetic loser," as Nick so delicately put it, the goblin offers information and to perform any menial task the Drogans would put him to, as long as they let him live and allow him to tag along with them.

Rekoj throws all the corpses into the fire pit.

The goblin introduces himself as Splug, and the Drogans treat him as their new goblin pet.

Session XII - Part 3 Summary

The party brings Splug to the store room and feeds him while taking short rest.

Once ready to head through the double-doors leading to the goblin leader, the Drogans debate ploys on getting Balgron the Fat to come open the door, like posing as a pizza delivery boy, a girl scout selling cookies, or a door-to-door salesman of limited-edition religious texts.

Session XII - Part 4 Summary

The Drogans line up in front of the double doors leading east into the goblin lair, leaving

Splug in the storage room.

Zacsarrd and Coltaine try to kick open the doors in unison. Zacsarrd kicks his open, but Coltaine slips and falls backwards. The warlodr discovers that it takes skill to kick open a door and perhaps grows newfound respect for Zacsarrd. Coltaine simply opens the other door "the lame way."

The doors open into a 10-foot wide corridor that runs 50 ft and ends with a heavy curtain. The end of the corridor opens into a chamber illuminated by lantern.

The Drogans march down the corridor, and Zacsarrd tries to pull down the curtain, but John rolls a 1. The dragonborn pulls his back.

Coltaine has a try, but Nick rolls a three and fails. Rekoj, the manly 20-strength man, orders the other two out of his way, and Dave rolls a 3, resulting in an embarrassing failure for the goliath.

Autumn, the woman, moves in and easily pulls down the drapery. The other Drogans wonder what happened to their balls.

With the curtain out of the way, a 10-foot corridor is revealed--filled with ten goblins lying in wait.

The players roll initiative.

Session XII - Part 5 Summary

Round 1 begins. In unison, the goblins let our a fierce war cry--they've clearly been expecting the Drogans.

A goblin emerges from another curtained corridor further north and engages Coltaine from the side.

A goblin draws his sword and slashes Autumn down to 19/24 HP. The eladrin stabs her katar through the goblin's throat, and it collapses.

At the far end of the corridor is an open doorway, where javelin-wielding goblins take aim.

Two goblins emerge from the north and impale Coltaine down to 19/30 HP with javelins.

Beyond the doorway stands a wounded goblin--the goblin from the torture room that Coltaine had knocked out and forgotten about. He stands beside a short, fat goblin that wears a ridiculous wig--Balgron the Fat. Armed with a crossbow, Balgron takes aim and pegs Zacsarrd down to 13/27 HP.

Coltaine knocks out a goblin as another sword-wielding goblin slashes Zacsarrd down to 9/27 HP.

Session XII - Part 6 Summary

Rekoj slashes a goblin's arm off, and it collapses, dead.

Zacsarrd prays for a Beacon of Hope and weakens his enemies while healing his allies. The cleric then prays for a Shield of Faith to protect himself and his allies.

Autumn is completely healed of wounds, Coltaine is healed to 24/30 HP, and Zacsarrd is healed to 20/27 HP.

Another goblin emerges from the northern corridor and Coltaine down to 20/30 HP.

Session XII - Part 7 Summary

A weakened goblin closes with Rekoj and slashes through his defenses for 2 damage.

Round 1 ends. Twelve goblins remain standing, including Balgron. Three goblins are down.

A goblin nails Coltaine in the clavicle with a javelin, bringing the warlord down to 12/30 HP.

Autumn stabs a goblin in the brain through the eye, and it dies before it hits the ground.

The torture-room goblin strikes Zacsarrd with a javelin, taking him down to 17/27 HP.

Coltaine knocks out another goblin with the haft of his halberd while Rekoj chops off a goblin's leg, killing the creature.

Zacsarrd moves away from southern corridor to engage the northern goblins, then prays to heal Coltaine.

Session XII - Part 8 Summary

Round 2 ends. Nine goblins still stand.

Goblins move in to flank Rekoj and slash him down to 42/45 HP.

Autumn stabs a goblin, wounding it.

Coltaine knocks out yet another goblin, then he is nailed in the thigh with a javelin down to 24/30 HP.

Rekoj critically hits the goblin before him; he swings his axe in a horizontal arc and crashes the dulled blade into the goblins side. The blade smashes the goblin against the wall before the blade cuts through, bifurcating the creature.

Session XII - Part 9 Summary

Dave spends an action point, and Rekoj charges down the corridor towards the doorway with a burst attack to hit three javelin-wielding goblins. He wounds two of them.

Zacsarrd sprays his poisonous dragon breath and misses everyone but Autumn, who takes 6 points of damage.

Round 3 ends. Seven goblins remain.

Session XII - Part 10 Summary

A goblin draws a spear and stabs Autumn down to 15/24 HP. She bloodies the goblin in retaliation.

Balgron reloads his crossbow and nails Rekoj in the throat for 15 damage, dropping him to 33/45 HP.

Rekoj bloodies a goblin, while Zacsarrd sears a goblin with sacred flame.

Round 4 ends. Seven goblins remain, three of which are bloodied.

Session XII - Part 11 Summary

The torture-room-goblin shuts one of the two double doors at the end of the corridor.

Balgron nails Rekoj in throat with a bolt, dropping him to 24/45 HP. The goblin leader then closes the second door, shutting himself and the torture-room-goblin into a chamber.

Coltaine bloodies a goblin next to Rekoj. The goliath uses another burst power and decapitates two goblins while immobilizing a third.  

Zacsarrd twirls his scythe in a flourish and jams it into a goblin's head. The creature collapses.

Round 5 ends. One goblin stands near Autumn and Zacsarrd, another stands near Rekoj and Coltaine, while Balgron and the torture-room-goblin have enclosed themselves within a chamber.

Autumn's katars bite into the goblin.

Session XII - Part 12 Summary

Coltaine slashes the goblin, then Rekoj sends its head rolling.

Zacsarrd bloodies the remaining goblin with a Lance of Faith.

Round 6 ends. One gobo remains.

Zacsarrd charges the goblin and slashes him, severely wounding it.

Round 7 ends.

Coltaines speaks inspiring words to Rekoj, and the goliath is healed to 36/45 HP.

Session XII - Part 13 Summary

Round 8 ends.

The goblin spears Autumn for 5 damage.

With surgical precision, Autumn stabs the goblin through the heart, then rejoins Coltaine and Rekoj.

Zacsarrd charges through the northern tapestry and into the northern corridor beyond. He spots a door that leads into a darkened chamber.

Round 9 ends. No conscious goblins are in sight.

Coltaine tries to open the door, but finds it to be locked. He starts to test the keys he found in the lock.

Rekoj attempts to kick the door open. It cracks and creaks but refuses to give.

Zacsarrd grabs a lantern, moves beyond the northern doorway, and sees another wall of curtains.

Round 10 ends.

Session XI - Part 14 Summary

Rekoj gives the door another solid kick and hears the sound of wood buckling, but the door still holds fast.

Zacsarrd sets the tapestries on fire with the lantern.

Round 11 ends.

Autumn picks the lock, once again showing up the manly men.

As the curtain disintegrates, Zacsarrd sees another storage room to the north.

Round 12 ends.

Coltaine realizes that the set of keys is to open the jail cells in the torture room.

The Drogans reposition themselves around the double doors, then open them. An empty bed chamber lies beyond, with a curtained-off region in the southeast corner.

Zacsarrd charges through the curtain, revealing another bed and a chest. He notices, on the southern wall, a strange pattern--as though there is a hidden door.

The session ends.
