The fourth match-up for the Dungeons & Drogans PvP Tournament has been posted --
Autumn vs. Rekoj.

SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT
Rekoj won. Nothing to see here; move along.
Seriously, this match-up had a foregone conclusion. With different players controlling the characters, the battle may have been less one-sided, but anyone who knows Stephen's play style will not be surprised at the outcome.
I believe it would have been p... Continue reading ...
Session Report-Back 9/19/2011
Session Report-Back is a feature in which I jot down my after-action
thoughts about my weekly D&D session for my Disciples of Dreth'dor
campaign.
We last left off with the PCs having plowed through a confidence-boosting battle in the midst of an underground town being bombarded by falling stalactites, only to discover they didn't defeat the villain, but her decoy. With the threat of stalactite-induced doom omnipresent -- in a completely non-"rocks fall, everyone dies" kind of way ... Continue reading ...

A couple weeks ago, I mentioned a combat session that went horribly wrong. Statistically, the battle was supposed to be of average difficulty, one of those "consumes 20% of your resources" fights. Instead, the party nearly lost the battle.
This session, the opposite happened: a battle that was intended to be of average difficulty turned... Continue reading ...
D&D Tournament: Rhekd vs. Zook
The third match-up for the Dungeons & Drogans PvP Tournament has been posted --
Rhekd vs. Zook.
Click here for a full-size view of the battlefield.
SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT
With regards to the bets that were placed, this was, by far, the closest match-up, but for the third time in a row, the majority of betters picked the winner.
Going into this match, I thought Zook would take it. I knew Rhekd would have a tremendous ability to heal, but I also knew his offensive capabi... Continue reading ...

The PCs led a militia of 300 strong on an assault on the Big Bad's town. Taking point, they plowed through the enemies' front lines, crushing the unprepared defenders and fought alongside their small army against hordes of slavers, corrupt guards, and general nogoodniks.
The players had fun, the PCs took a step toward their ultimate go... Continue reading ...

No, this isn't a joke about D&D being dumbed down. Illustrator James Stowe whipped up six professional, stylistic character sheets for his son's 8th birthday party so that the 2nd graders could play D&D. The rules were simplified to make the game approachable to young minds and easy to grasp in a short amount of time, and everyone at the table apparently had a fantastic time.
The character sheets are remarkably well-made and are actually modified PCs from DND Insider. James has kin... Continue reading ...

Combat session.
I didn't intend it to be a difficult battle. Mechanically, it was of average difficulty. This was supposed to be a quick confidence-booster before the main quest encounters.
The battle lasted four hours, and the party was nearly defeated.
What went wrong?
I'm still not sure. The encounter began when the PCs fell through ... Continue reading ...
