Sometimes you wonder why your players are spending so much time on something inconsequential. Sometimes you find yourself at the end of a session and realize very little happened. Sometimes you realize the session has gotten bogged down, but you don't know why, or how to salvage it. Today's Quick Tip offers some advice for DMs on how to move things forward. Chris Perkins: Can't do a Proper Main Accent? Who Cares?

Chris Perkins, Senior Producer of D&D, spoke about voice talent in his recent column. One tidbit he touched upon really resonated with me: "It’s perfectly fine to mutilate real-world accents. So what if your
Maine accent doesn’t sound like a real Maine accent. It’s not like your
campaign in set in Maine, after all; the players won’t hate you because
your rendition failed to conjure memories of summers spent in Bangor."People will sometimes shy away from accents they can't properly e... Continue reading ...

Call them trolls, call them jokers, call them immature -- they are players that just goof around, name their character Chesty McBoobs, and make constant Monty Python references. Today's Quick Tip offers some advice for players and DMs on how to deal with jokers. Continue reading ...

We've all seen the player type: the guy who just sits around with dice in hand, waiting for combat to start. He doesn't know what's going on; he doesn't know why he's fighting; he doesn't care. When you have a whole party of combat-focused players, you should craft a story that will keep this type of player engaged, rather than let him dawdle off and play X-Box. Today's Quick Tip offers three ingredients to a story that will engage combat-focused players. Continue reading ...

Mike
Mearls, RPG Group Manager for the D&D Research & Development, suggested in his weekly column that D&D will evolve toward minimalism with respect to its overarching mechanics system. Saving throws, skill checks, attack rolls, defenses... So many mechanics boil down to your six ability scores. But those ability scores are rarely directly called upon. Mearls said:
"You already have a Constitution score. While your Constitution modifier
can factor into a save or defense, why bother with that... Continue reading ...
Steve Winter: Dragon and Dungeon Online Are Here to Stay

If you're a disenchanted (former) DDI subscriber hoping that Wizards of the Coast will revive the paper-format Dragon and Dungeon magazines, here's some bad news for you. In a recent editorial, Steve Winter stated: We’re committed to digital publishing for Dragon and Dungeon
online. This medium offers many possibilities that we’ve yet to explore
and raises questions that we’ve yet to answer. Is a web-based
periodical that publishes stand-alone, unbundled articles still a
magazine? If ... Continue reading ...

Dungeons & Drogans Update
I've posted a video update on when Dungeons & Drogans 2 will begin and what changes
to expect. With our first adventure over and "season
2" of Dungeons & Drogans around the corner, we'll be getting
together for a Q&A session in the near future, in which myself and
the players will answer any questions you have.
Ask any and all
questions, directed either to the group, or to a certain player(s). Post
your questions in a reply to the video, as a comment on my channel, a comment on this blog... Continue reading ...
